What to Expect During an Art Therapy Session?

The first appointment offers the client an opportunity to discuss why they are seeking assistance and to set future goals. It also is the moment for the art therapist to get to know the client’s general health and background.  Details of GP and next of kin will also be requested.  There will always be an assortment of art materials out such as traditional two-dimensional art supplies, watercolours, charcoal, graphic pencils, coloured pencils, oil pastels, paints, an array of collaging materials, such as magazine cut-outs, tissue papers, washi tapes, decoupage, glitter, decorative papers etc., some three-dimensional supplies such as air dry clay, and recyclable materials.
